For child (6-13yrs) who have never skated before to those continuing to work on improving their ice skills. From learning how to fall safely and get up on your own to forward strides, gliding, stopping, sculling, backwards skating, crossovers and turns. As you progress through levels 1 – 6, you will continue to build on power and speed with precision in your skills. Come prepared and dressed for skate lesson with CSA approved Hockey Helmet and sharpened ice skates. Dress in active/warm pants & jacket to move in (no jeans or cords) with a pair of gloves. Rentals are available at the Arena at an extra cost.
Participants must have completed Level 2 or be able to skate with strides the width of the ice. Our instructor will develop gliding on one foot and backward skating while introducing forward crossovers and backwards gliding.
Participants must have completed Level 3 or be able to glide on one foot (3 counts) and skate backwards. Develop forward crossovers and backwards gliding. Backwards crossovers and backwards stopping will be introduced
Participants must have completed Level 4 or be able to perform forward crossovers and backward gliding. Our instructor will develop backward cross overs and backward stopping, while introducing edge control, mohawk turns and parallel stopping.
Skaters must have completed Level 5 or be able to perform backward crossovers and backward stopping. Our instructor will develop edge control, mohawk turns and parallel stopping. This level will introduce two-foot turns, waltz jumps and 3-turns.
